The Building Safety Department has a skilled, conscientious staff eager to help you. Our staff is made up of trained and certified personnel, all of whom have extensive backgrounds in construction, contracting, fire protection and fire prevention. While we are not permitted to perform any actual design work, we are more than willing to consult with owners and builders on building, fire, life safety and code related questions. Important Code Updates

Implementation of the 2009 amendments to the State Building Code and the State Fire Safety Code shall be effective on August 1, 2009. The Windsor Building Dept. enforces building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and energy code requirements necessary to promote the health and safety of the people of Windsor. NEW R105.1 Required. Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or move a lot line that will affect an existing building or structure or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit.
