Windsor is home to hundreds of businesses, spanning a range of industries. Employees are drawn to these businesses from the higher education institutions in the area. Windsor's location within the New England Knowledge Corridor, less than an hour drive from Hartford, New Haven, and Springfield and a two-hour drive from New York and Boston, makes it highly desirable for companies looking to capitalize on a well-connected transportation network while utilizing a highly skilled workforce. There are four industries that have become especially robust here in recent years because of these assets.

One of the most sizeable industries is insurance and financial services. This is the second most common occupation in Windsor.
