Mayor Trinks called the Public Hearing to order at
7:18 p.m. He read the legal notice regarding
Demolition Delay Ordinance.
Mr. Christopher Watts, 257 Palisado Avenue, urged
the Council to adopt the demolition delay ordinance.
Steps need to be taken to preserve historical
properties in Windsor.
Mr. Leon Alford, 426 Lantern Way, spoke to the
Council. He is against adoption of the ordinance. He
feels that the notification procedure should have
provisions for homeowners and property owners who need
to do demolition or preservation of their properties.
Perhaps they could come up with their own plan rather
than go through the 90-day period. He feels that the
90-day period could be a hardship on homeowners doing
demolition or preservation work. He feels it places an
unfair burden on property owners.
Mr. Peter Deresienski, 128 Hayden Station Road,
agrees with the ordinance. He is a member of the
Historical Society. He feels that the waiting period
is appropriate. When it comes to demolishing a piece
of history, we need to look at all options.
Mr. Bradshaw Smith, 23 Ludlow Road, spoke to the
Council. He questions the definition listed in Section
3, subsection A "reasonable demolition". He suggests
eliminating the word reasonable.
Mayor Trinks closed the public hearing at 7:28 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kristin Countryman
