There is no fee to attend the Opening Reception and reservations are not required.
Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program
The Town of Windsor will be participating in the State of Connecticut's 2012 Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program. The NAA Program, administered through the state's Department of Revenue Services, benefits eligible non-profit organizations and municipal entities, by providing a financial inducement to corporate donors. Donors approved for participation receive a 60% tax credit against their corporate state tax liability, and up to a 100% tax credit for certain energy conservation projects as well as employment and training projects, subject to certain restrictions.
Organizations interested in learning more specific guidelines for the program should contact the Community Development Office at 860-285-1985. Applications are due May 25, 2012.
This program does not cost the town any direct cash outlay or loss of revenue as this is a State program.
Milling and Paving of Town Streets
All drainage repairs needed on the streets that are part of the milling and paving program for 2012 have been completed. The following streets are scheduled for milling and paving this spring: Corporate Drive, Colonial Drive, Delilah Drive, Craigs Road and Penncross Drive. The contractor is scheduled to start the milling of the pavement on April 23rd, with the paving contractor scheduled to start the first week of May. This work is primarily funded by the State LoCIP grant.
Volunteers for Windsor's Earth Day Clean Up
Volunteers are sought to participate in a clean up effort of various areas in town. The annual Earth Day clean up is scheduled for Friday, April 20th, from noon to 4:00 PM. This is the last day of spring school vacation week for Windsor students. All ages are welcome, but children age 12 and under need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Volunteers should meet outside the sliding door at the rear of Town Hall at 11:45 AM. We will provide bags, gloves and instructions.
If you would like to join us in this effort, please contact Cyd Groff, Environmental Planner, at 860-285-1987 or groff@townofwindsorct.com by April 18th.
Special Town Meeting on Dollar Tree Tax Abatement
Petitions to overrule the Town Council's decision on the Dollar Tree Tax Abatement were submitted by the March 29th deadline. These petitions included 1,075 names. The Town Clerk verified 956 names and signatures as electors. Per the Town Charter, 5% of electors (or 965 verified signatures) were required to officially hold a Special Town Meeting. Since the 5% threshold was not met, the Special Town Meeting scheduled for April 7, 2012 will not be held. ![]() |
