Who we are

The Department of Social Services can assist families during difficult times. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and caring. All contacts are confidential. 

Social Services provides :




  • Casework and Support
  • Information and Referral
  • Food Bank, Diaper Closet, Mobile Foodshare, Groceries to Go, Weekend Wheels Backpack program
  • SNAP (Food Stamps) enrollment and renewal by appointment only
  • Medicare options counseling
  • Energy and Utility Assistance
  • Support groups for Diabetics, Share Groups and monthly informational events
  • Special holiday programs

 

Windsor Social Services coordinates a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and many of our programs are supported by Windsor C.A.R.E.S. and Windsor Food and Fuel Bank.

AT RISK REGISTRY 

The Town of Windsor has created a voluntary At Risk Registry to identify Windsor residents who might need extra assistance during an emergency.

CASEWORKER AT THE LIBRARY - Maggie Goodman, one of our caseworkers, will be available every Tuesday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on the lower level of the Windsor Public Library main branch. Maggie will be happy to answer questions and provide resource information to people in need of assistance.

 

Senior Hunger Listening Session - Summary of event.

On Tuesday, March 6th a Senior Hunger Listening Session was held at the Windsor Senior Center. This was an opportunity to join a conversation about seniors' and residents' concerns and questions about hunger in our community.  Click Here to view Summary of event. 

 

 

2018-2019 Weekend Wheels Backpack Program

Social Services will be taking applications for the 2018-2019 Weekend Wheels backpack program beginning in August. This is a supplemental weekend food program that provides a backpack on wheels to elementary age children to bring home on Fridays filled with food and snack items.
