Support Groups

As of May, 2014 the Social Services Department will be changing the way we host groups on a monthly basis.  We will now be hosting one monthly group throughout the year focusing on various topics.  Some of those topics you will see throughout the year as as follows:  Fire and Fall prevention, Couponing, Meditation and Alternative Medicine, The Importance of Sleep, Renter/Rentee Assistance, Diabetic Nutrition and Cooking, Social Media and Your Children, Weatherization, Support Enforcement, Job Search and Resume Writing, Hearing and Site Challenges, Special Needs Panel, Personal and Internet Safety, Inner Peace and Healthy Balance, Master Gardener class.

 

Diabetic Support Group

The Diabetic Support Group is designed for individuals with diabetes, their families, and their friends.  The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of the summer months, at the L.P. Wilson Community Center from 1:00pm to 2:15.  Participants have an opportunity to learn from guest speakers on topics related to diabetes and from one another.  Please call Social Services at 860-285-1839 with any questions or to be placed on the mailing list to receive a flyer. 

 

 

SPANISH Diabetic Support Group

This group is specifically for the Spanish speaking population with diabetes, their familes, and their friends.  The group meets on the second Monday of each month, with the exception of the summer months from 2:15-3:30 pm at the LP Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor, CT.  Please contact Paula or Evelyn at Social Services at 860-285-1839 to be placed on a mailing list.

 

SHARE Support Group

The SHARE Support Group is designed to provide support and information to adults living with disabilities in Windsor.  The group meets three times a month - Fitch Court the second Wednesday of each month, Shad Run the third Wednesday of each month and Millbrook Village the last Wednesday of each month all at 10:30 am in the community rooms.  Each meeting is led by a caseworker.  Guest speakers are often invited to share on a variety of topics of interest relevant to the group.  Please call Social Services at 860-285-1839 with any questions regarding this group.
