Support Groups
Caregivers Support Group
The Caregivers Support Group is designed for people who are caring for loved ones. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month, with the exception of summer months, at 10:00 am at the L.P. Wilson Community Center. A variety of topics are presented and speakers are often featured on areas related to caregiving. Please call Social Services at 860-285-1839 with questions or to be placed on the mailing list to receive the group flyer.
Diabetic Support Group
The Diabetic Support Group is designed for individuals with diabetes, their families, and their friends. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of the summer months, at the L.P. Wilson Community Center from 1:00pm to 2:15. Participants have an opportunity to learn from guest speakers on topics related to diabetes and from one another. Helping to Hear Better Support Group
The Helping to Hear Better Support Group is designed for people who are experiencing all ranges and types of hearing difficulties or hearing loss. This group meets periodically throughout the year at the L.P. Wilson Community Center. SHARE Support Group
The SHARE Support Group is designed to provide support and information to adults living with disabilities in Windsor. The group meets twice a month, once at Millbrook Village and once at Shad Run Terrace in the community rooms. Each meeting is led by a caseworker. Guest speakers are often invited to share on a variety of topics of interest relevant to the group. Please call Social Services at 860-285-1839 with any questions regarding this group.
Underempolyed and Unemployed Support Group
The underemployed and unemployed support group is designed to provide support and information to individuals and their families who are struggling with the lack of gainful employment. This group meets monthly and provides members the opportunity to hear from presenters on topics relevant to their concerns. The group is also a supportive environment allowing members to speak with one another as well as with the caseworker who leads the group. Parents and Caretakers of Children with Disabilities Support Group
This group is designed to provide support and information to individuals and families who provide care for minor and/or adult children with disabilities. This group will not focus specifically on any one disability, but will provide support and information of a broad nature. The group meets the last Tuesday of every month in the evening at L.P. Wilson Community Center. Each month speakers will present on topics relevant to the concerns of the group members. The group is a supportive environment providing members with the opportunity to speak with one another as well as the speaker and the caseworker who leads the group.
