The Town of Windsor Social Services has many wonderful opportunities to volunteer within your community.  Please contact Social Services at 860-285-1839 for more information on any of the volunteer opportunities outlined below.  All volunteers are invited to complete an application, including reference checks and background check.  There is also a brief training for all volunteers with each opportunity.  Click Here for a printable volunteer application.

Likewise, the Town of Windsor Social Services offers many wonderful volunteer services to residents in need of assistance.  If you are a Windsor resident who would benefit from one of these volunteer services, please call Social Services at 860-285-1839.

Birthday Cheer

Volunteers provide outreach to homebound seniors and persons with disabilities by bringing them a balloon as a celebration of their birthday.

Friendly Shoppers

Friendly Shoppers are volunteers who help seniors and persons with disabilities with their shopping.  The volunteer either accompanies the individual to the store or shops for the individual on their own.

Friendly Visitors

Friendly Visitors are volunteers who visit with seniors and persons with disabilities in their home.  Friendly visitors establish a visiting schedule with the individual whom they are visiting and may enjoy activities such as; talking, playing board games or cards, watching TV, or spending time outside.

Home Helpers

Home Helper volunteers are available to help with ordinary tasks within the home that a senior or a person with disabilities may not be able to do on their own.  Tasks may include; changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and other small chores.  Home Helpers are not intended to complete tasks that you would otherwise pay a professional to do.

Telephone Reassurance

The Telephone Reassurance Program is intended to provide a means of checking in on the well-being of an individual on a regular basis.  A volunteer in this program would place a phone call to an identified individual on agreed upon dates and times.  The phone call can be brief and is meant to determine the overall safety and well-being of the individual.  If the volunteer could not reach the individual, or felt that they needed some further assistance, the volunteer would then contact Social Services for follow-up.

Windsor C.A.R.E.S.

Windsor C.A.R.E.S., (Citizens Assisting Residents Everywhere by Sharing), consists of energetic volunteers who help out in a wide variety of projects within the Town of Windsor.  Recent projects include; making sandwiches for the homeless, conducting food drives to benefit the Windsor Food Bank, preparing a meal for a shelter or for a family in need, and hosting two annual fund raisers for the group itself.  This group is very active and has many opportunities to participate.
