Join us for a comfortable and informal presentation to learn together what it means to be transgender and the challenges the community faces. Presented by Jillian Celentano sharing her personal journey, victories and hardships.  Jillian will discuss:

  • The coming out process
    •           The transition process (G-rated)
    •           The acceptance process
    •           Terms and definitions
    •           Right and wrong questions to ask other transgender people.
    •           Q & A at the end

Jillianis a 59 year old transgender woman who transitioned 5 years ago.  She is an advocate for the transgender community, and speaks at various venues across New England, including libraries, conferences, support groups and medical facilities.  She has been a GSA (Genders & SexualitiesAlliance) instructor for a high school in New Haven, is a mentor and has organized a support group for transgender youth.  Jillian is pursuing her master’s degree in social work in order to become a counselor for the transgender population.  She is currently a social worker intern at the Yale Gender Program in New Haven.
