The Upstanders explores cyber-bullying, bullying among friends, families, co-workers and the brain science behind it all.

The film highlights new laws and programs already reducing bullying in schools and shows us how we can learn to make a difference together to create systemic change.

When we look in the mirror we sometimes say things to ourselves we would never say to someone else. Are we bullying ourselves?

When we treat ourselves well we model for others how we want to be treated and how others should treat themselves. It has to start with us.

As with all of our films, The Upstanders will provide resources, tools, and hope.

As well as access to well established anti-bullying school programs already making a difference.

Robin O’Brien

I have worked in the Windsor Locks School District since 2014, where I have served in the capacity of Math Teacher, Guidance Counselor, and Special Education Coordinator at Pine Meadow Academy. Prior to coming to Windsor Locks, I spent 15 years teaching at the Grace Webb School.  I have a passion for working with teens in the alternative education environment and I make lasting relationships with students at Pine Meadow. Many former students cite my influence as one of the integral reasons as to why they have graduated high school and current students view me as the “mom” of the academy. My position on the Advisory Board is fostered by my interest in helping in the creation of  programs for all Windsor Locks students that extend beyond school and into the greater community.

Michael Webb

Michael Webb has been a lifelong Windsor Locks resident. An educator for the past 22 years, he has taught in both urban and suburban districts at the middle and high school levels.  He currently teaches English at South Windsor High School where he has been for the past 12 years.
