Successful Aging in a Place for Seniors

A Three-Part Series presented at the Windsor Senior Center and via Zoom

The Commission on Aging and Persons with Disabilities and the Senior Center are proud to present a discussion series featuring experts on three areas of safe and healthy aging. These discussions are being held on Wednesdays - May 19, May 26, and June 2. Each session features an expert on the week’s topic, and can be attended via Zoom at home, or in person at the Windsor Senior Center.

Session 1 on May 19 will focus on resource planning for financial and care needs.

Session 2 on May 26 will be a discussion of state community-based services and resources.

Session 3 on June 2 will be a discussion on dementia, memory issues, and helpful tools to promote safe and healthy aging. 

Hearing Clinics

Free hearing clinics, conducted by a certified audiologist from Discount Hearing, are held at the Senior Center on the last Tuesday of every month from 10:00 AM to noon. Please call 860-285-1992 for an appointment. Rides can be arranged to your appointment by calling 860-285-1839 two days in advance for Dial-A-Ride patrons.

Hearing clinics will be held on July 31, August 28, September 25, October 30, November 27 and December 18 for the remainder of 2018.

Memory Screenings

The Windsor Senior Center offers free memory screenings held quarterly on the third Wednesday in September, December, March and June, 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.  Memory screenings performed by Hebrew Senior Care. Appointments are needed. Call 860-285-1992 for an appointment and information.  Please see our monthly Windsor Seniors' Newsletter for exact dates for the screening. Rides can be arranged to your appointment by calling 860-285-1839 two days in advance for Dial-A-Ride patrons.

Senior Health Fair & Flu Clinic

Annually, the Windsor Senior Center and Windsor Health Department sponsors a Senior Health Fair with the Flu & Pneumonia Shot Clinic during the early fall months.  Windsor residents age  50 and over and disabled adults 18 and over will be able to receive their seasonal flu shot and/or pneumonia shot during the clinic.  Many free health screenings and services are provided at the Health Fair and over 30 health and wellness vendors will be available to provide information.  Watch this webpage for specific dates and additional information about flu shots and the Senior Health Fair in the future, or check out our monthly Windsor Seniors' Newsletter for dates and times of the fair.  You may also call 860-285-1992 or 860-285-1824 for more information.
