Youth Services Programs January – April 2017
July 3 - August 11: Summer Youth in Action!
This summer program provides nonstop learning and nonstop fun designed specifically for teens to help them gain a greater appreciation of themselves and the world around them.
All activities have a focus on decision making, problem solving, self-identity, and critical thinking skills to help youth on their road to the future, as well as academic skills specific to each week’s theme.
Each week includes field trips to enhance learning. Enrichment and social learning activities are included on all field trips, as well as summer fun activities and swimming on some days at Goslee Pool.
This program takes place Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:30PM, at 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center. The fee is $105.00 per week. Scholarships are available.
April 22: American Red Cross Certified Babysitter’s Training Class will be held at 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center from 9:00am – 3:30pm on Saturday, April 22. Babysitter’s Trainingis designed to teach 11-15 year olds how to: respond to emergencies with first aid, rescue breathing and more, make good decisions under pressure, communicate effectively with parents, recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage young children, feed, diaper and care for infants, and start a babysitting business! Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certification card. $90.00 per participant. Offered by the Youth Services Bureau. NEW! April 24: Join us as we showcase the Teen Center with an Open House from 5:30pm-8:00pm at 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center. We will be showcasing our programs and activities from Windsor teens. Our celebration will include refreshments, entertainment, door prizes, and more. 860-285-1990.
April 29: Home Alone Safety Class is offeredby the Windsor Youth Services is for all boys and girls, 8 to 13 years old, who are ever home alone at 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center from 10:00am-12:00pm. The course will cover all the safety concerns parents have when their children are by themselves. Students will learn to be more aware of the potential dangers they could face when left home alone. May 12: YSB Family Paint Night! Youth in grades 3rd-8th and their families are invited to come to the LP Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Avenue, on Friday, May 12th, 2017 from 6:00-8:30pm for a relaxing night of fun painting. This workshop can help youth and families soothe school and home stressors. Students are recommended to bring along their families, or can come alone. Enjoy pizza, friends, enter for a chance to win a gift card, and check out the new and improved Teen Center. Register online or at the Recreation and Leisure Services Office located at 599 Matianuck Ave. 860-285-1990. $5 per person, $10 additional for out of town resident.
