Camp Foxfire
The Ultimate Summer Nature Adventure for PreK – Grade 8 at Northwest Park
What is Camp Foxfire?
Camp Foxfire day camp engages children in active, field-based exploration where they can develop a deeper appreciation of nature while learning new skills and having fun outdoors. Experience the natural world through a variety of hands-on activities that nurture each child’s curiosity to create a dynamic and thrilling summer of adventure! Being immersed in these unique, firsthand experiences can inspire a deep-rooted appreciation for our environment and cultivate effective problem solvers, lifelong learners, and thoughtful community leaders and participants.
Our campers enjoy exploring our 473-acre park through discovery-based activities such as: hiking the trails, live animal interactions, rolling logs to search for salamanders, dipping a net in the pond to learn more about aquatic critters, playing nature-themed games and creating artistic masterpieces from natural materials. As campers get older, they will experience even greater adventures. Offsite daytrips, canoeing Rainbow Reservoir, and overnight camping opportunities enhance the weekly theme and deepen their connection to, understanding of and respect for nature.
Our highest priority is to provide the best service to our community in the safest manner possible by staying informed and enacting best practice health protocols. We look forward to hosting your greatest adventure yet!

Junior Counselor Program
Want to help strengthen your resume and earn volunteer hours? Come transform your summer experience from ordinary into the extraordinary by becoming a Junior Counselor (JC) at Northwest Park’s Camp Foxfire. JC’s at Camp Foxfire are an enthusiastic volunteer force of teens who shadow and assist our experienced Camp Teachers, with a variety of everyday camp activities, while gaining invaluable life skills in a dynamic and energetic camp setting. JC’s help bridge the gap between campers and teachers and play an integral role by bringing their unique teen spirit and outlooks to camp.
Sign up beginning February 1, 2024 to receive the JC program application. Applications are due back to Northwest Park by Monday, April 1, 2024.
All participants accepted into the program must be committed to at least two weeks of Camp Foxfire (camp runs from July 1 to August 9) and attend a mandatory 3-day Training Workshop, Wednesday June 19- Friday, June 21, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. A $125.00 (Windsor Resident), and $150.00 (Nonresident) fee covers the cost of the 3-day training workshop, Junior Counselor t-shirts, and your two week experience at camp.
