9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Saturday, September 11th
7:00 to 9:00 PM – Windsor Town Green
In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the Town of Windsor will host a “Walk of Light” community remembrance ceremony on the historic Windsor Town Green at 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
Approximately 3,000 paper luminary bags, one for each individual who lost their life on September 11, 2001 will line the sidewalks of the green. Each luminary bag has been inscribed with the name of a person who perished on 9/11. The bags will be illuminated with glow sticks at dusk.
A remembrance ceremony honoring our fallen heroes will be held from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Following the ceremony, those in attendance can stroll the town green until 9:00 PM to view the bags and reflect on the events of 9/11 in their own way. This is a free event and open to the public.

Volunteer Task Details:
Filling Stations – 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM :
Assist with filling the luminary bags. Each bag needs to be filled with sand, we will have a station of large sand buckets, small shovels and luminary bags to be filled.
Glowsticks – 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM :
After each bag is filled with sand, they need glow sticks. Assist with walking around the town green and ensuring that each bag has a working glowstick inside of it.
Cleanup 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM :
Assist with breaking down and cleaning up the event by removing luminaries and gathering materials.
