What is S.T.E.P.?
Each summer the Windsor Youth Services Bureau employs local teenagers for their Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP), a seven-week paid internship. Interns participate in a minimum of 5-hours per week of training in the areas of personal mindset, communication, planning for success, and problem-solving. Teens are tasked with small building projects, landscape maintenance, and special assignments throughout town. STEP Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, May 10.
Our Partnership with Northwest Park
Each summer, STEP interns spend two full days a week at Northwest Park for six weeks under the supervision of Northwest Park’s Park Manager. STEP Interns complete a variety of projects including marking hiking trails, beautification projects, and more!

Community Block Parties
STEP interns are responsible for hosting a three special events for the community during their internship. Interns will be tasked different stations including such as games, arts and crafts, face painting, music, bounce house, food, and more! The goal of these events is to promote family fun and community spirit in a substance-free environment. We collect school snack donations for the Weekend Wheels Program that provides foods to local students.

Ensuring Success
We strive to ensure students are continuing their personal, professional, and academic success during this internship and participation is mandatory. Interns will participate in various trainings such as first aid and CPR, risk management, financial literacy, mental health and wellness, time management, customer service, and attend college tours to name a few.
