In another testament to the transformative impact of Windsor’s Multifamily Rehab Grant Program, the home at 30 Filley Street stands as a beacon of revitalization. With a focus on preserving affordable rental housing, this initiative, funded by the American Rescue Plan, continues to breathe new life into neighborhoods across Windsor.

At 30 Filley Street, a proactive homeowner seized the opportunity to address critical maintenance needs with the support of the program. Facing the challenge of a roof in need of replacement and aging windows, they embarked on a journey of renovation and renewal.

With a contract amounting to $35,862, including the replacement of 26 windows and 6 porch storm windows, the homeowner’s investment was supplemented by a $20,000 grant from the town. This collaborative effort ensured that essential upgrades were made to enhance the property’s safety, comfort, and longevity.
While the scope of work focused primarily on roof and window replacements, the significance of these improvements cannot be overstated. Beyond aesthetic enhancements, replacing a deteriorating roof not only safeguards against potential leaks but also mitigates the risk of mold growth and structural damage, ensuring the health and well-being of residents.

Behind the scenes, the journey to renovation was marked by active engagement and guidance from the town’s dedicated team. Working closely with the homeowner, they provided invaluable support in navigating the intricacies of contractor selection, contract evaluation, and project optimization.
Despite initial challenges and a pivot to a new contractor, the homeowner ultimately found reassurance in their decision, leading to a successful outcome that exceeded expectations. This collaborative approach underscores the program’s commitment to empowering homeowners and fostering vibrant, resilient communities.
