The Town of Windsor is proud to announce the successful implementation of its Multifamily Rehab Grant Program, made possible through funding from the American Rescue Plan. This initiative aims to fortify the stability and accessibility of affordable rental housing within Windsor while addressing the maintenance needs of distressed rental properties.

One shining example of the program’s impact can be found on Allen Street, where a dedicated property owner of a three unit building took advantage of the resources offered. With a grant of $30,000 from the town and matching funds secured through Windsor Federal’s Home Improvement Loan Program for Investment Properties (HILP), a total project budget of $63,470 was allocated.

The scope of work encompassed vital repairs and renovations, including a full bath replacement, floor replacement, drywall repair, kitchen renovations, and the installation of sheetrock in closets. Additionally, the project involved patching and repairing walls and trims, as well as constructing closets in two bedrooms.
The preferred contractor, selected through a competitive bidding process, delivered exceptional workmanship, leaving the homeowner immensely satisfied with the outcome.

This success story not only highlights the tangible improvements made to a rental property but also underscores the collaborative effort between the town, financial institutions, contractors, and homeowners in preserving and enhancing Windsor’s affordable housing landscape.
