Another success story from this initiative comes from Tunxis St., where a four-unit property underwent essential renovations to improve living conditions for its residents.
Despite being a relatively small project, the impact of the renovations to this home were still significant. With a total project size of $18,003, the property saw vital upgrades including the replacement of the roof and gutters. These improvements not only enhance the structural integrity of the building but also contribute to the safety and comfort of its inhabitants.
Crucially, two of the four units in the property were occupied by low to moderate-income tenants, who were paying fair market rent. This underscores the program’s targeted approach to supporting vulnerable members of our community, ensuring that those in need have access to safe and affordable housing options.
The collaboration between the town and property owners was essential to the success of this project. With a town grant of $10,298 and the owner contributing $7,705, this partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to improving housing conditions in Windsor. Additionally, the owner funded the installation of new wiring, plumbing, heating, cooling, windows, insulation, sheetrock, and flooring to improve living conditions even further.
As we celebrate this project, we reaffirm our dedication to continuing this vital work and building a brighter future for Windsor.
