NOTICE

Please take note that as of March 30, 2024, the State of Connecticut has enacted an updated Stormwater Quality Manual and new Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines.

Erosion & Sediment Control/Stormwater Management

The Erosion & Sediment Control Ordinance and the Stormwater Management Ordinance became effective February 2, 2009.

The Town’s published an updated Stormwater Management Plan  in 2017.

Please contact the Engineering Departament at (860) 285-1861 regarding the new ordinances, application procedures, and/or design requirements.

Erosion and Sediment Control Permits: (Fees shall be reduced when Inland Wetlands fees are also collected for the same activity)
Single and Two-Family Residential (Not part of a subdivision)$100/lot
Residential Subdivision$300, plus $100 for each lot to be disturbed
Commercial, Industrial, Residential (Multi-Family) or Other Use$300, plus $100 for each acre to be disturbed
 Stormwater Management Permits
Single and Two-Family Residential (Not part of a subdivision) $100/lot
Residential Subdivision$300, plus $100 for each lot to be disturbed
 Commercial, Industrial, Residential (Multi-Family) or Other Use $300, plus $100 for each acre to be disturbed

Illicit Discharges and Connections

The Illicit Discharges and Connections Ordinance became effective April 16, 2009.

Various groups have asked about how to properly hold a car wash fundraising event.  Please refer to the Town’s car wash brochure information for more information.

Businesses and residents commonly ask questions related to  the disposal of swimming pool and hot tub wastewater.  Please see the Town’s guidance document  on swimming pool wastewater discharges for further information.

Food preparation establishments should review the CT DEP’s Guidance Document on Wastewaters Associated with Food Preparation Etsablishments
