Voter Registration for Early Voting
If you are not yet registered but want to vote during the Early Voting period before the Primary Election, file your voter registration application (for a party holding a primary) with the registrars of voters by noon on the business day before the day you want to vote

Voting by Absentee Ballot

- Step 1: Apply for absentee ballot
- Pick up an application at the Town Clerk’s office, download online, or apply online here.
- To request an absentee ballot by mail, submit request to the Town Clerks office by August 12 at 5:00 PM.
- Step 2: Complete your ballot
- You will receive your ballot via US mail. Ballots become available on July 23.
- Or, vote absentee ballot in-person at the Town Clerks office through August 12.
- We recommend to vote your absentee ballot in-person beginning August 9.
- Step 3: Submit your ballot
- Option A – Drop in the absentee drop box (located in the rear parking lot of Town Hall)
- Option B – Deliver in person to the Town Clerk
- Option C – Send via US Mail no later than Monday, August 5, 2024 to ensure adequate time for delivery
Early Voting
Early voting will be available on August 5-11, 2024. Early voting will be available in the Ludlow Room, at Town Hall from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on August 6 and 8) on those days. During early voting, voters will present identification to poll workers who will then electronically cross the voter off the check list. The voter will then receive a ballot, and insert it into an envelope. On election day, election workers will open these envelopes, and place the ballots into a secure receptacle to register the votes. There is no application required to participate in early voting.
Voting on Election Day
The August Primary Election is on 8/13/24. All seven polling locations will be open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Early Voting allows you to vote in person safely and securely before Election Day.
When you arrive at the Ludlow Room, you will check in and be verified as an eligible voter. You will then receive your ballot with an envelope. You will complete your ballot at a privacy booth and seal it in the approved envelope. Before you leave, place the sealed envelope in the secure receptacle as instructed by the election officials. Ballots will be secured unopened until Election Day.
Ballots cast during Early Voting will be sealed and stored securely in the Town Clerk’s vault. They will be opened and counted on Election Day in a secure and confidential process.
Absentee Ballot voting requires a reason (from a list of six, found at MyVote.CT.gov). Early Voting is available to every eligible voter without a specific reason. Early Voting may be done only in-person, not via mail or drop box.
Windsor has one Early Voting location located at the Ludlow Room, Windsor Town Hall, 275 Broad Street.
Yes. Early Voting includes Saturdays and Sundays for most elections (see specific dates above).
The election official at your Early Voting location will record that you have cast your ballot, preventing you from voting early at any other location, submitting an absentee ballot, or voting on Election Day.

Although new to Connecticut this year, 46 other states already offer some form of Early Voting.
You can still vote via Absentee Ballot or on Election Day as usual. Elections in Connecticut are still safe and secure.
