SCRIBE Writer’s Workshop
This workshop is designed to help senior citizens recall their life stories and capture them through the written and spoken word. Based on the theory that good writing and storytelling are keys to a healthy mind, this workshop will enliven memories and involve participants in a creative group activity. It is open to all levels. Led by published writer Elizabeth Thomas, you’re sure to enjoy this workshop. Held on the 2nd and 4th Monday each month from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Call us to inquire at 860-285-1992, or just drop-in. Bereavement Support Group
If you are experiencing grief and would like to explore support options, we would like to invite you to attend our NEW twice monthly Bereavement Support Group with Laura Perednia, LCSW and Robert Havens, Certified Grief Counselor. Meetings will be 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month in the Senior Center.

Monthly Book Club
Led by avid reader, and book enthusiast Martha O’Donnell. The group meets on the second Thursday each month at 10:30 am at the Windsor Senior Center.

Chess Club
Whether you’re a grandmaster or a beginner, stop by our chess club and challenge yourself! We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 10:00 AM in the senior center for some healthy competition as you enjoy one of the world’s oldest games. Chess is great to keep your mind sharp, as well as enjoy the company of friends. Come solo or with a partner.
The Windsor Senior Center offers many enrichment programs and clubs which engage the seniors of our community. Club Leaders are volunteers who help make these programs run successfully. All clubs are open to new members. Please see the current issue of the Windsor Seniors’ Newsletter for more details about each enrichment program and club and the dates that they meet. Contact us at 860-285-1992 if you have an idea for a new club, or would like to start or lead a club that would be of interest to anyone age 55 and over. We are happy to accommodate new clubs and ideas!
Adult Coloring: Enhance your focus, reduce stress, and clear your mind during Adult Coloring. Bring your own materials, or use what we have here. Whether you use colored pencils, markers, or crayons. you’ll reap the benefits of this fun activity and create a colorful masterpiece. Call 860-285-1992 to inquire, or drop-in. Free.
Bingo: Daytime games are played every Monday and Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This is a popular activity but there’s always room for one more at the Senior Center. Arrive by 12:30 to purchase your game cards. Evening Bingo parties are planned every third Wednesday of the month beginning at 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
Bowling: The Windsor Sportsters’ bowling league meets every Monday from 10:00 AM to noon at the Bradley Bowl. Come enjoy lots of good fellowship and fun. This is a non-competitive, co-ed league which you can join anytime. No bowling skills are required. $11.00 for three strings. 860-688-6119 for information.
Coffee Connections: Enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea as you discuss current events with other seniors every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings in the Senior Center café from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. This is an informal discussion group, sometimes with guest speakers, and is sure to get your day started right. Free.
Crafty Fingers: If you like to sew, knit or crochet, or have a special craft you would like to teach others, then Crafty Fingers is for you. Join this group every Friday morning in the Senior Center from 9:30 AM to noon. All skills and interests welcome. Just stop by or call 860-285-1992 for more information. Free.
Cribbage: Easy to learn and fun to play, this centuries-old popular card game is played every Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Come early if you need some instruction. New players can join anytime. Free.
MahJongg: Join this great group and start a new hobby. Beginners are always welcome. Games are played every Monday and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM in All Purpose Room 1. Free.
Movie of the Month: Join us in the Senior Center Lounge for the Movie of the Month from 12:45 PM to 3:00 PM every third Tuesday of the month. Transportation available. Free. 860-285-1992 for more information and to sign up each month.
Quilting: Join the First Towne Quilters and share some friendship and stitching. Bring your own projects or stop by to get ideas and help with a new project. We meet the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Join us anytime. Free.
Scrabble Club: Each 2nd and 4th Thursday at 2:30 PM, join fellow word puzzlers for a few challenging rounds of this beloved game. If you have never played, or need a refresher, come a few minutes early to chat with the club leader. Free.
Scrapbooking: If you’re looking for inspiration on a few pages, or just want to create memories with fellow scrapbookers, join this club. Held during “Crafty Fingers” on Fridays at 9:30. Free.
Setback: The card players all gather in the Senior Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM to play setback. A great way to meet new people or catch up with old friends. New participants always welcome. Instruction provided if needed. Free.
Wii Bowling: This incredibly popular and fun activity is played in the Senior Lounge on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Tuesday of every month. Enjoy fun and light exercise with other challengers and/or teammates. Call us with questions, or drop-in. Free.
