Your RIghts under Title VI
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Section 601 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination “on the basis of race, color, or national origin” in any “program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” Subsequent legislation has extended the protections under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to prohibit discrimination based on gender, disability, age and income status. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 established that Title VI applies to all programs and activities of Federal-aid recipients, sub recipients and contractors whether those programs and activities are federally funded or not.
