Northwest Park
About The Park
Northwest Park is a 473-acre municipal park owned and operated by the historic town of Windsor, Connecticut. Much of this former tobacco farmland situated on the Farmington River has reverted to biologically diverse forests, fields, and wetlands – natural areas that can be explored via 12 miles of hiking trails. Educational and passive recreational experiences are offered every day for persons of all ages and abilities.

Park grounds are open from sunrise to sunset, year round
Nature center hours:
Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Sunday: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Rental Facilities
Northwest Park has two open-air picnic shelters available to rent for private gatherings. The Picnic Pavilion has a capacity of 150, while the smaller Warming Shed holds up to 50. See our rental page for prices, pictures, and more information.
Rules & Guidelines
- The park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset
- Do not remove any plants, animals, or other natural items
- Carry out what you bring in—don’t litter
- Remain on the trails
- Dogs are safest on a leash—protect your pet and avoid disturbing native wildlife
- No camping or open fires
- Bikes are permitted only on the Farm Roads, not on hiking trails
- Cross-country skiers must be off the trails by 4 PM
- Motorized vehicles are not permitted beyond the parking lot
- Alcohol may not be consumed without a special permit
- Hunting, firearms, and explosives are prohibited
