Friday, February 23 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Join Northwest Park educators for a guided Full Moon Hike on Friday, February 23 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This moon is known as the Full Snow Moon because the heaviest snow usually falls during this time of year. At this mid-winter point without many other strongly distinguishing characteristics—no plants to harvest, no new plants blooming—snow can be the most prominent trait of the month.

If snow conditions permit, bring your own snowshoes if you have them. Snowshoes will be available for participants to borrow for an additional $5 (cash only due day of program). Please wear winter boots for equipment to fit properly.

Sunday, March 24 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Come out to Northwest Park for a guided Full Moon Hike on Sunday, March 24 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. This moon is known as the Sap Moon, as it marks the time when maple sap is flowing. It is also called the Worm Moon. Originally thought to be referring to earthworms appearing as the soil warms in spring, the name Worm Moon refers to a different sort of “worm”—beetle larvae—which begin to emerge from the thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts at this time.

Program Cost:
Ages 12+. This program is $9 (originally $12) for Windsor residents–sponsored by “Be Well Windsor” funding. $16 per person (Nonresidents). Participants must preregister as space is limited.
