Youth Engagement Officers
Working in collaboration with the middle and elementary schools and the parks and recreation department, the Youth Engagement Office (YEO) will interact positively with the town’s youth to reach a large portion of families. The goal of this position is to build rapport and trust with the town’s youth through positive interactions that will have a lasting positive effect on their perception of law enforcement.
During the school year, the YEO’s primary responsibility will be to work with the students and faculty at the elementary and middle schools. When school is not in session, the YEO will continue the community policing function by working with the town’s parks and recreation department and will assist with event planning and program implementation to identify areas that can be leveraged to increase positive police interactions with our youth. The YEO will assist with the Juvenile Review Board to work with the families of juveniles who commit minor crimes to provide appropriate services within the community, outside of the judicial system.
